Talking About Menopause

No matter how old you are ladies & even men listen up, this topic is for you all even if you think it’s not. You might be currently going through menopause or living with someone going through menopause & so I’d like to help you begin to understand it better.

When I was in my late teens my sweet little mum changed she fell into a deep depression, she completely shut off from everyone around her, I saw her angry for the first time in my life, & sad more times than ever, even my dad wasn’t sure how to handle the situation & because of my young age I just didn’t understand.

Now I know this was my mums peri-menopause & how I wish I knew all I know now. I train many women who are peri-menopausal & menopausal but it isn’t until I start asking them questions that they open up & these are some of the things I hear

  • Irregular or no Periods
  • Poor or no sleep
  • Hot flushes
  • Weight gain, especially around stomach
  • Sudden mood changes
  • Higher Depression & anxiety levels
  • Aching joints & muscles
  • Avoiding social events
  • Suffering relationships
  • No sex drive

If this is you or someone you know please read on.

You need to do more research about menopause & most of all get a team of people behind you to help you with your symptoms, you shouldn’t be just “putting up with them”. The key is getting the right people though find a GP who specialises in menopause (check menopause society for your country), talk to your husband/partner about it don’t leave them in the dark, find a coach like myself who is educating herself on the topic & doesn’t just tell you it’s cause you’re not sticking to the diet that you can’t lose weight, there is a lot more to it ladies.

Please don’t just ignore what’s happening, there is solutions, I highly recommend you read/listen to a book called The M Word – How to Thrive in Menopause by Dr Ginni Mansberg it’s a great help with all things menopause & options of treatments etc.

This won’t be the last I speak of this topic & please ladies, partners & families reach out to me if you need to ask any questions or need help finding the right professionals to help.

Much Love
